So much to do, so little time….

I am soooo far behind in my blog updates on the Gladys house, but not for a lack of progress. Spring is such a busy time for us as a family. Jeff will shut down the business for a few weeks in the winter, as the equipment is not able to function in really cold temps. This is usually a time for us to take a much needed break. But now that it is spring, things are in full swing. Not just with sandblasting, but with all things in the Rater household. We are gardeners and Feb/ March is a very busy time for getting things started in the greenhouse. It’s also baby chick season, personal project season and a little bit of R&R season 😉

The girls and I took a quick trip down to my childhood vacation destination back in February to spend some time with my mom. I was overwhelmed by the memories that came flooding back. I spent a good portion of my younger years in this place with my family and even some friends over the years. It was a beautiful time and very much needed.

Back on the farm…

Plants have been started in the greenhouse, raised beds built and planted with onions and greens and a few things have been planted in the garden. We got 6 new baby chicks this year and I’m really excited about the two olive green egg layers that we got. Jeff is extending the lean-to off the back of the garage for more equipment storage. And of course, it’s almost time for mowing season. Thankfully, the land that we cleared and seeded last year for pasture is growing beautiful green grass for our future moo moos. 🐄

Inspiration from great things of our past and present, for our future

This year, Jeff and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage. We have a lot to reflect on and even more to look forward to. We started our life in San Antonio TX, and for the first time in 25 years, we made the trip back to where it all began for us. We took our younger girls to many of the places that we frequented all those years ago. It was a precious time for us as a couple and a family. What a beautiful experience to draw inspiration from for our future. And speaking of inspiration, what better place to spark a little something for our reno project than good old Waco, TX. Home of the home restoration pioneers, Chip and Jo.

And so, believe it or not, we were actually able to work on the Gladys house during this busy time as well. We have run into some support issues in the floors, but we will get it straight. Stay tuned for more updates on the house. And in the meantime, enjoy this resurrection season with those you love most 💜
