I was hoping to have a bit of a lazy day yesterday, but as Jeff and I talked about plans for the day, a good little last minute project came up. We had met with the electrician the day before to go over the rough in and we need to get the rotten floor fixed to be able to stud up some walls in that area of the house. Both the electrician and HVAC guys need this done before they can begin their work. So, a quick trip to Lowe's and a few phone calls later, we had a plan. Once the old floor was cut out, it was easier to assess the damage. One floor joist was damaged pretty bad so they removed it back to where it was ok. We joined up 2x10 boards to the existing floor joists and added cross supports for extra support.

While Jeff and a friend worked on repairing the floor, The girls and I tackled removing old tile that was glued down in the living room. About half of it came up with no problem and the other half seemed to be permanently fixed to the original hardwood floors. Thankfully, our friends stopped by and we had lots of hands chipping away at the old tile. I'm pretty confident that we will be able to keep the floors in this room. They are a little rough in some areas, but its amazing what a little bit of sanding and stain can do to revive them. We will pull the remainder of the flooring out of the bathroom area to use for repairs in other areas of the house.
